How to be a Great Host
It is often said that whatever is worth doing is worth doing well. “One thing common among some of our most successful hosts is their commitment to giving their guests great experience”.
Sometimes, this dedication to making sure that guests have a nice experience translate to “going excessively overboard”. Host can become either boxed in or burnt out.
We put together some easy steps every host can follow to prevent hosting from becoming more of a chore than an enjoyable experience.
Determine Your Goals
There are a number of reasons our hosts join the hosting experience of Airbnb Homes. For most people, the goal is to earn money. For some others it is for companionship and to meet new people.
Whatever your reason is, it is important to make sure that that your hosting experience supports your goal. For our host Adaora, her hosting journey started as a means to make up money for her apartment. She says that initial goal has evolved into being able to provide a great, affordable place to stay in the highly coveted Lekki Penisula and also give guests the opportunity to enjoy the Lagos Island experience.
Surround Yourself with People
Surrounding yourself with people helps you to fulfil your hosting obligations faster sometimes.
Imagine if you had to get keys to your guest at 2 p.m. when you’re already out for work? Having someone who can do a key hand-off and greeting when you are unable to do it yourself is pertinent if you want to be a great host. It could be a trustworthy friend, an understanding neighbour, or your estate or residence security staff.
